Center Closings/Inclement Weather
Greenbelt Children's Center follows announcements by Prince George's County Public Schools when closing or opening late due to emergency conditions. We encourage parents to pick up their child as soon as possible if the weather worsens during the day. Parents may be called to pick up children early if the conditions warrant.
For more information, or to receive email alerts, please see below.
Emergency Alerts
The Center will follow the PRINCE GEORGE'S PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM'S emergency plan. If the Public School System opens late due to emergency circumstances or inclement weather, the Center will open late also (ex. if public schools open 2 hrs late, GCC opens at 9 am, etc.). If the Public School System closes early, the Center will close early also & remain open until the last child is picked up by parents. The Center does ask that parents make arrangements to have children picked up early during dangerous conditions. If the Public School System is closed for the day, the Center will be closed for the day also.
On days that the Public School System is already scheduled to be closed but GCC is scheduled to be open, parents must be alert to follow an alternative plan, should emergency circumstances arise. Listen for announcements at WTOP 103.5 FM or FOX WTTG Channel 5 and on the web at www.wtopnews.com. (We might also post a notice for Greenbelt Childrens Center at www.schoolsout.com). You may also call the center to hear if the recording says that we are closed. Parents are still responsible for tuition for any days the center is closed for inclement weather or emergency circumstances.
